July 18 28, 2012Chicago is one of the biggest movie musical blockbusters of all-time, based on the 1975 Broadway production. The 1996 revival holds the record for longest running revival and is the fifth longest-running Broadway show of all-time.
Set in prohibition-era Chicago, the show is a satire on corruption within the criminal justice system and explores the treatment of celebrity criminals.
The movie soundtrack reached number one on the Billboard charts, and you’ll recognize the familiar music including “All that Jazz,” “Cell Block Tango,” and “Me and my Baby,” just to name a few.
